To start off I purchased the car in North Jersey for $2000 and drove it home to Pa where I'm currently working on it now...
It came with an ugly camaro style hood, painted interior pieces and an awful fitting integra rear seat that didn't match anything. Things were about to change for this poor little car...
Now for the pics...
The first day I had the car...
Notice all the red spray painted pieces...gotta love ricers!
Intega 2 door rear seats that fit like crap and don't match anything...
Mostly stock d16z6 with a cheap ebay intake
Stay tuned for more updates...hahahaha

Well started to shave and polish my intake manifold,4 hours later and this is as far as I have gotten...Long long long ways to go...Might end up powdercoating it black or silver!
Before shot and what's getting shaved...
parts ordered and on the way...
Hybrid racing fullsize radiator
Why the Hybrid radiator you ask?
This radiator integrates the necessary ports for the Coolant Temperature Sending Unit and the Fan Switch, eliminating the need for a Hybrid Racing Radiator Hose Insert. There is also a grounding bung welded to the lower end tank to guarantee that the sensors mounted to the radiator get a good ground connection.
This radiator is also a completely bolt-in part. It mounts to the OEM lower radiator and AC supports. No cutting or bending of the chassis or mounting brackets is required.
Hybrid Racing silicone hoses w/ t bolt clamps
Hks limited edition radiator cap
Valve cover has also been removed and is getting powder coated purple, also have an additional cover getting coated in gloss black...Thanks Saxon!

Now I read in a magazine that when putting in a full size radiator in the civic that the IAC valve will be in the way. Do you see that?
92civicruiser
03-11-2010, 09:41 PM
What magazine was this in?...The iac valve is located on the underside of the throttle body, and as you can see in the pic below I already have a dual core half size aluminum radiator so I know there won't be a fitment issue...Plus the hybrid racing radiator is made for this car and this particular swap...
wafflez66
03-12-2010, 06:11 AM
It was in Super Street. They were promoting a new product for use on the K Swaps by Hybrid Racing, it's a throttle body adapter or something, I'll take a look at the magazine when I get to work.

no issues with the eg/dc and clearances with the radiator, its for ek's that are using the factory steering rack/crossmember that have problems with clearing a radiator in the front

120 will be fine. I will bead blast it when i get it anyways. That will roughen it so the powder will get a good "bite" in the metal. What color are you thinking for that? Saxons is called blasted aluminum, its literally like you took it out of the blast cabinet but its able to be kept clean. I also have cast aluminum, oem wheel silver, and platinum. All of them are nice silvers but its up to you. I have all those colors on sample bottles if you would like to see them before making a decision.

Wow I'm a big fan of that purple and carbon kevlar look, looks great. Gloss black is not a problem on the intake manifold, you just need to make sure you have all the ripples out of it. Gloss black will magnify every bump and groove. As long as you smooth it up pretty good you should be good to go though. Im not sure of your timeline on this but I will be in florida from march 23-29 so I wont be able to coat it untill after that.

I'm taking my time to make sure there are no ripples or anything, already have about 8 -10 hours into it...as far as going to Florida, no big deal I probably won't have it done till after that anyways...I'm only working on the manifold on my days off so it seems like it's taking forever!

Ehhh sorry man i'm a hater... just doesn't flow at all...
I'll post some pics at different angles when it gets here...and Jimmy it's just one of those things you either like it or you don't there is no middle ground with this wing lol...
Also the real reason I'm getting it is I'm looking to get into autocross, and many people on the forums praise this wing for it's "funcionality" on an auto cross course...supposedly it's one of the few wings that is available for the eg platform that is actually functional in the sense that it creates downforce... Backyard specials used a very similar design on there eg track car in the mid 90's before they switched over to the ek platform.
So all in all I guess we'll see from 1st hand experiance if this wing makes a differance or not on an autocross or road course!
lotar_6
05-08-2010, 07:09 AM
cool... very glad to hear you're getting into autocross!! come out to some Glen Region events! I'm always there and would love to catch up in person!
As for the wing helping in autocross... I highly doubt it. My spoiler is functional, too, but for any spoiler to truly be helpful, you need to be traveling at speeds great enough to actually create down force. Autocross has you constantly speeding up and slowing down. If you run SCCA events, one of the course design factors is to keeps speeds at or below highway speeds. You'll rarely find yourself going over 60mph in an autocross. One site that may be an exception is Seneca Army Depot (our next event is 5/16 at SeAD!!!). Even still... it's up and down on the speeds. Now use on a track is completely different! Speeds averaging over 100mph will make good use of the downforce created. No matter what, I'm glad to hear it's a functional spoier!!

Ok so I decided to v band the Mugen axle back to the Skunk 2 midpipe... Part of the reason for doing this is that the skunk 2 exhaust system is 3" and the Mugen axle back is 2.5" and the original exhaust flanges won't line up.
So I ordered a 3" outside diameter to 2.5" outside diameter reducer and also (2) 2.5" outside diameter v band flanges and a v band clamp... My question is did I order right???
Check these pics....My main concern is with the Mugen exhaust, it has an O.D. of 2.38" is that close enough to 2.5" outside diameter for everything to work?
Skunk 2
Mugen
Digital calipers I used to measure everything...
saxon
05-25-2010, 09:16 PM
you will just have to wait when they come in, autozone sells reducers and hopefully the v bands work with the mugen exhaust, if not clay is the man you need to see bc he can flare pipes etc
lotar_6
05-25-2010, 10:41 PM
yeah, you could get another 3" flange, cut the other flange off and expand the pipe to fit the new flange. or just find an adapter.

Not off hand but I know Eastwood sells kits specifically for coating nuts and bolts that you can soak the entire thing and the mil thickness is so small that they will still thread in with no problem with the coating on the threads. I'll see if I can dig up the one I was looking at but they have a ton of different ones on there.

I have a confession to make....I'm slowly becoming a wheel whore.
Yesterday I found another deal on a set of wheels...Here's what's in the mail!
Impul r1 mesh 15x6.5 +19 offset 4x114.3 ( No I'm not going "hella flush")
I plan on having the wheels re-drilled to 4x100 and rebarreling them to a more civic freindly offset.
Also I would like to powdercoat the center mesh piece, but unsure of the color as of yet...and last but not least have the bolts 24k gold plated!!!! (hey got to spice up these 19yr old wheels some how!)
They are basically bbs rs's but more rare and didn't come with a $1200-$1500 price tag (before customizing)....
So here are the "new" project wheels...
Look closely and you can see where every single rivet says IMPUL so sexy!
Something along these lines as a finished product...but like I said still undecided yet....
Let me know what you guys think..... =-)

6.5+19 isn't anything crazy, at least I wouldn't think. Seems pretty tame.

True!!! For some reason I was thinking they were 7" wide instead of 6.5"....The starlights are 7" wide with a 32 offset, so if I subtract half an inch off the r1's that equals about 13mm I can add to the offset...So The 6.5" +19 r1's should sit exactly as flush as the starlights....WOOHOO
I'm either having them done by Ralph @ opspec (a.k.a. Opposum jenkins) or Heymikeyyy from dippedparts Both out of California and highly respected.
