Just putting a feeler out, since I am in no position to do any of this myself.

My Camaro I picked up, needs the passenger fender and front bumper cover clear-coated. The parts were replaced, painted and all that, but not cleared.

So what I'm trying to find, is a) how much it'd run for the clear & labor to shoot em, and b) someone who would be able to do it, preferably fairly close to the Binghamton area. I can probably pull the parts off if needed, though it might be easier to just wait for some warmer weather, and for me to get it on the road and just bring the whole thing. I dunno, just trying to get an idea :)

(the guy that I would NORMALLY have do this for me, got pissed because he sold a car out from under me before I could look at it, and then I ended up with a better car anyway. go figure.)

Depending on when you're looking to get these done I could possibly do them for you... unfortunately it would be a couple months from now though... right now i'm just flooded with jobs as I have 2 cars, a couple front ends, doors, fenders, a trunk lid, skirts and some motorcycle parts to spray before Carlisle!

With that being said though are you sure the parts were painted with a base coat or are they a single stage paint? You technically can spray over single stage with a clear if you scuff it down but I really don't recommend it as it can cause light and dark spots and adhesion is not really right. To do a base coat clear coat job you should really do it all at once.

To be honest, I have no idea. I can handle pretty much anything mechanical/electrical, but paint I am clueless on. All I can say, is that the pieces look like a flat black at the moment. I was told that they just needed to be cleared, but for all I know, they're just that color to start with, and haven't been touched. If that's the case, I'll have to add paint in the mix as well. Either way, I guess I'll have to do whatever. It's slightly annoying to have the things not match :) I am hoping to get up there again this weekend to work on the manifold gasket, so I'll try to get much better pictures for reference. Stupid snow.

Yup, as suspected, the pieces were never painted to start with, so..I'll be needing to get a shot of black paint before the clear as well. If I haven't found someone in a few months, I'll have to look ya up lol.

Not a problem man I should be able to do more paint work sometime after Carlisle.
